Microphone

Before your streaming session begins, the lapel microphone for the BLR will need to be collected from IT Services. The Hall lapel mic is in the cabinet by the sound system.

  1. To turn on the mic open the door on the front of the lapel mic transmitter and press the on/off button.
  2. Please ensure you have the correct mic for the room you are in, shown on the display.
  3. Please make sure the switch on the top of the mic is NOT set to Mute (unless required). Remember you cannot hear the microphone in the BLR or Hall but the people who you are streaming to will not get sound if the mic is muted.

Also please be aware that the mic is very sensitive and can pick up conversations before the event and broadcast them to the other room, so be cautious what you say around the mic if you do not want your speech broadcast.

Please ensure the mic is returned to IT Services at the end of your event.

YOU are responsible for this mic until it is returned.

Basic streaming to ONE other classroom

If you are streaming to one other classroom, please ask the teacher in the other classroom to open the appropriate shortcut for whichever room you are using in K:\BLR and Hall Cameras. This will open VLC player and allow them to watch the stream. They can then show this on the Airtame for the class.

Please note there is a limit to how many streams can be opened up at the same time with VLC so if you wish to broadcast to more than one classroom please use the method below instead.

Streaming to Multiple classrooms at once

Please speak to IT Services at least a few days ahead of your event. IT Services will need to liaise with you to stream your event over Planet eStream.

Your end users can watch the event by going to https://stalbans.planetestream.com/ and then selecting the "View - Live Broadcast" option from the top menu.

Your stream will only be visible on the Planet eStream menu when the broadcast has started.

If you wish, IT Services can record your broadcast, but we will need to know this is required before the event.
